Welcome to BCA

The Black Coalition on AIDS (BCA) is dedicated to stopping the spread of HIV/AIDS and eliminating health disparities in San Francisco’s Black and marginalized communities. BCA strives to achieve this focus by providing health and wellness services including, but not limited to, transitional housing, health education, advocacy, health case management and other health-promoting activities.

BCA has been a pioneer since 1986 in providing health education, advocacy and services to San Francisco's Black community. We have accumulated the depth and breadth of experience to serve the local community as health and outreach needs continue to evolve.

Recent Events

The following three events are displayed in the slideshow below.

New Beginnings

This year we moved into a new office. The space was pretty raw but with a lot of hard work we have transformed it into our new home.

Soulful Summer Soirée

The event was BCA's annual fundraiser and grand opening celebration of our new health and wellness center. Community award recipients included Caesar Churchwell (Naomi Gray Leadership Award), Hospital Council of Northern and Central California (Visionary Donor of the Year Award), and Griffin Tyree (Volunteer of the Year Award).

Night with the Divas

A standing-room-only benefit for BCA/Rafiki Wellness and 360: The Positive Care Center at UCSF. The event starred Denise Perrier, Paula West, Jennifer Bryce and Daria Nile, accompanied by the Marcus Shelby Trio, at Rasselas Jazz Club and Restaurant. Photos by James Knox.

Black Health & Healing Summit: Alive, Aware and Taking Action

This all-day summit, which attracted close to 250 participants, included discussions on public policies and health issues in BCA's targeted community and a variety of panel discussions and workshops. Health screenings and complementary alternative therapies were also provided.
