The African American Coalition for Health Improvement and Empowerment (AACHIE) represents the community-based, community-driven partnership formed in collaboration with the San Francisco Department of Public Health’s African American Health Initiative (AAHI) to help reduce health disparities and improve the quality of life among African Americans in San Francisco. The coalition of community-based agencies targets the neighborhoods of Bayview Hunters Point (BVHP), Oceanview-Ingleside-Merced Heights (OMI), Visitacion Valley, and the Western Addition.

Through the joint services of the AACHIE partners, African Americans with limited health care access are offered health education, screening, testing and information linked to health issues that disproportionately affect Black people.

African American Health Crisis

The scourge of poverty, racism, lack of medical care and ultimately apathy, have combined to produce a health crisis in the African American community of historic proportions. The result is a decrease in life expectancy of African Americans and a quality of life burdened with disease and injury. Knowledge is our future. Get screened, tested and educated about health disparities. Help chart the course to change the facts.

AACHIE partners with faith-based and community-based organizations, medical care providers and medical centers that really care about your health.
